Biography
Edwin D. Morgan rose from modest beginnings to become a major force in New York commerce and politics, serving as the state's governor from 1859 into the first years of the Civil War.
He later represented New York in the U.S. Senate, steering support for the Union war effort while championing wise stewardship of public funds; his remains rest at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
