Biography

Edwin S. Curtis brought to his duties both a mind for strategy and a desire to nurture younger officers, demonstrating that the best leaders are lifelong learners. As a military officer and educator he saw to it that lessons gleaned in the field translated into better instruction for the next generation.

Those who served with him recall his patient guidance and the quiet way he held high standards without losing sight of the personal sacrifices made by his subordinates; West Point Cemetery marks his place beside fellow teachers and warriors. Even after his final tour he remained a model of the combination of soldiering and teaching.
