Biography

Eli Sims Shorter (1823–1879) answered the call to serve as a military officer, embracing the responsibilities of leadership with courage and a commitment to those under his charge. He faced the great challenges of his time with steady conviction, always mindful of the men who relied on him.

He now rests at Fairview Cemetery, where family and friends remember him for both his martial strength and his quiet kindness beyond the battlefield.
