Eliakim Sherrill

Biography

Eliakim Sherrill was born in 1813 and lived through the early decades of the American republic. He witnessed the nation's westward expansion and the gradual polarization of the country over fundamental questions of slavery and union.

Sherrill passed away in 1863 during the Civil War and was buried at Washington Street Cemetery. His life spanned fifty years of American development and transformation.
