Biography

Eliyahu Yosef Rivlin, born in 1805, belonged to a family long intertwined with the vital affairs of Jerusalem, and he played a part in sustaining the city’s spiritual and communal frameworks. Through his involvement in local matters he fostered a sense of responsibility and continuity for those around him.

When he passed away in 1865 he was laid to rest on the Mount of Olives Jewish Cemetery, where his memory remains entwined with the story of Jerusalem’s enduring communities.
