Biography

Elizabeth Cabot Agassiz co-founded the Harvard Annex, which evolved into Radcliffe College, championed women's education, and conducted natural history studies with her husband Louis Agassiz.

As the first president of Radcliffe she safeguarded academic standards while welcoming women into serious study, and she remained an active presence in New England scientific societies.
