Emily Parmely Collins

Biography

Emily Parmely Collins (1814-1909) championed equal rights for women and worked alongside temperance and suffrage partners to advance the idea that every citizen deserved a voice in democracy. She wrote, organized, and encouraged others to believe in the power of collective action and patient perseverance.

She rests at Cedar Hill Cemetery, where her advocacy continues to inspire those who study the long struggle for civil rights in Connecticut.
