Emmeline B. Wells

Biography

Emmeline B. Wells was a trailblazing leader born in 1828, known for her work as a journalist, suffragist, and advocate for women in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She spent decades editing the Woman's Exponent, crafting compelling arguments for equality, and serving on the Relief Society General Board.

Her commitment to both faith and civic progress left an enduring legacy; her efforts earned respect far beyond Salt Lake City, and after her passing in 1921 she was laid to rest at Salt Lake City Cemetery as a beloved figure in Utah history.
