Erasmus Corwin Gilbreath

Biography

Erasmus Corwin Gilbreath, born in 1840, spent his career in the U.S. Army, serving as an officer through the Civil War and afterward on the frontier, where he gained a reputation for fairness and methodical command.

He was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery, among the many soldiers whose lives shaped the Army's traditions during the nation's reconstruction and westward expansion.
