Esek Hopkins was a distinguished military officer who lived from 1718 to 1802, making him one of the longest-lived figures of the Revolutionary era. He served with distinction in naval and military capacities during the American Revolution, contributing significantly to the nation's struggle for independence.

Hopkins' career spanned decades of American military history, and his service was recognized by his contemporaries as vital to the success of the Revolutionary cause.
