Biography
Florence Duval West was born in 1840 and became known for her lyrical pen and earnest encouragement of literary salons; she chronicled the rhythms of southern frontier life while encouraging women to broaden their education and charitable response.
When she died in 1881, friends laid her to rest at Oakwood Cemetery, where her memory is sustained by the warm gatherings and compassionate letters she left behind.
