Biography
Francis Edgar Stanley (1849–1918) was an inventor and entrepreneur who, with his twin brother, conceived the Stanley Steamer and helped lay the groundwork for the American automobile industry, transforming transportation with elegant steam-powered carriages.
A man of varied interests who also made his mark in photography, he applied meticulous craftsmanship to both machines and management and is remembered through the grave marker that rests in Newton Cemetery.
