Biography
Frederick Middlebush guided the University of Missouri as chancellor from the mid-1930s through the 1950s, steering the campus through the challenges of the Depression and war years with calm determination and a focus on academic excellence.
He championed the expansion of programs, encouraged scholarship, and remained devoted to the students, faculty, and staff who shaped the institution; his memory is honored by the Columbia community near his resting place in Columbia Cemetery.
