Biography

G.H. Hardy (1877-1947) was a brilliant English mathematician at Cambridge whose love of pure mathematics shaped modern number theory and analysis; his partnership with Srinivasa Ramanujan and his own writings, including A Mathematician’s Apology, celebrated the pursuit of mathematical beauty for its own sake. He believed in rigorous thought and the shared enterprise of mathematical discovery.

The Trinity College Chapel holds his memorial, where students and scholars alike contemplate the legacy of a thinker who helped to define the discipline during a transformative era.
