Peter Paul Dobree, born in 1782, was a gifted teacher at Trinity College whose lectures in Greek and Latin enlivened the minds of young scholars and brought the Chapel congregation into deeper study.

He guided the worship at Trinity College Chapel with a steady hand, encouraged generous scholarship, and left behind a reputation for disciplined learning that endured after his passing in 1825.
