Biography

Gamaliel Bailey (1807–1859) was an influential abolitionist editor and publisher who used his platform to advance the cause of freedom. As editor of the National Era newspaper, he published significant antislavery literature and commentary, including serialized works that reached a broad audience across the North. His editorial work made him a prominent voice in the abolitionist movement during a critical period in American history.
