Biography
George Bradbury trained as a lawyer and entered public service in Massachusetts before representing the district that included Portland in the U.S. House of Representatives as a Federalist in the early republic. In Congress he served on committees that shaped the judiciary and supported measures to stabilize commerce as the nation found its footing.
After leaving Washington he returned to Eastern Cemetery's community, continuing to practice law, advising civic leaders, and remaining a respected voice for his neighbors until his death in 1823.
