Biography

George G. Symes answered the Union call and served as an officer during the Civil War before settling in Denver to practice law and help shape Colorado's judicial institutions.

Elected to the U.S. House in 1885, he championed infrastructure and veterans' issues while representing Colorado at a pivotal stage in its growth, and afterward returned to private practice to mentor younger lawyers and remain active in civic life.
