Biography
George H. Atkinson arrived in Oregon Territory with a missionary's heart and an educator's spirit, helping to lay the foundations for schools and learning that would uplift future generations. He traveled widely to share knowledge, welcomed families into classrooms, and encouraged the development of thoughtful leadership among young people.
He later looked back on a life shaped by faith, learning, and the friendships that sustained him, grateful for the progress forged together with his colleagues. River View Cemetery is now his resting place, and his legacy lives on in the institutions he helped build.
