George Lewis Ruffin

Biography

George Lewis Ruffin, born in 1834, overcame the prejudices of his era to become the first African American graduate of Harvard Law School and later a trailblazing jurist and legislator in Massachusetts.

He died in 1886, leaving a legacy of dignity and a path for future generations of lawyers and public servants.
