Biography
George Thomson devoted his life to collecting and elevating the shared songs of Scotland, publishing collections that preserved melodies once sung in humble cottages and noble halls alike.
He corresponded with Robert Burns and engaged continental composers to honour those tunes, ensuring the nation's folk heritage was celebrated on concert stages before he was laid to rest at Kensal Green Cemetery.
