George Washington Stone, born in 1811, spent his life as a quiet pillar of his community, offering steady friendship and thoughtful counsel to those around him. Though the records of his exact vocation remain sparse, his dedication to the people near him marked every season of his life.

As his days drew to a close in 1894, friends and neighbors remembered him for a steady temperament and gentle kindness, and he was laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery among other devoted citizens.
