Biography

George Woodward Greene, born in 1831, studied law and served with distinction in the courts and legislatures of New York, earning a reputation as a thoughtful jurist and diligent advocate for the people of his district. A patient legislator, he brought his legal acumen to the national stage as a member of the United States House of Representatives before returning to serve as a state supreme court justice.
