Goodwin Knight was an American politician who served as the 32nd Governor of California from 1953 to 1959. Born in 1896, he brought a pragmatic approach to state governance during a period of significant growth and development in California.
Before his governorship, Knight served in the California State Assembly and as Lieutenant Governor under Earl Warren. His administration focused on education, water resources, and infrastructure development. He left office in 1959 and remained active in public service and business until his death in 1970.
