Biography
Gunning Bedford Jr. (1747-1812) was a lawyer and delegate to the Constitutional Convention whose vigorous defense of small-state interests helped shape the federal framework and ensured the voices of Delaware and similar states were heard.
He later served as a judge and continued to advocate for justice, and he is remembered at Wilmington and Brandywine Cemetery for his role in building a more equitable union.
