Biography

Gus Grissom was born in 1926 and became one of America's pioneering astronauts. As a Mercury Seven astronaut, he flew the Liberty Bell 7 mission in 1961, becoming the second American in space. His courage, skill, and dedication to the space program exemplified the spirit of exploration that defined the Space Age.

Grissom's life of 41 years was dedicated to advancing human spaceflight and pushing the boundaries of exploration. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery, where his memory is honored as a hero of American space exploration and a symbol of the sacrifice made in pursuit of reaching beyond our world.
