Gustav Samuel Sutro

Biography

Gustav Samuel Sutro (1827-1897) brought his training as a mining engineer to the American West, applying technical skill to help advance mining operations and supporting his family through times of rapid expansion.

Resting beside other members of the Sutro family at Home of Peace Cemetery and Emanu-El Mausoleum, he is remembered for the calm expertise that steadied those who worked alongside him.
