Biography
Harry Agganis was the "Golden Greek" of Lynn, Massachusetts, a 6-foot-2 athlete who became a national symbol of versatility. As the captain of Boston University's football squad and the star of the diamond, Agganis earned All-America honors and carried his hometown's hopes into the world of professional sports.
He signed with the Boston Red Sox in 1955, captivating fans with both his batting eye and his grounded character, but his promising career ended abruptly when he succumbed to illness later that same year.
