Born in 1869, Harvey Williams Cushing emerged as a pioneering neurosurgeon whose meticulous studies of the brain, pituitary gland, and intracranial pressure transformed surgery into a disciplined science. He trained at Yale, Johns Hopkins, Harvard, and the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, championing aseptic technique and detailed record-keeping for every patient.
