Biography
Heber C. Kimball was born in Vermont in 1801 and, after embracing the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, became one of the earliest members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, leading missionary work in England and guiding the faithful across the eastern United States.
As a counselor to Brigham Young he helped organize the arrival of pioneers in the Salt Lake Valley, championed settlement efforts, and cared for widows and orphans; his presence soothed many members, and he was laid to rest in the Kimball-Whitney Cemetery in 1868.
