Biography
Born in 1830, Henry A. Neely devoted himself to the Episcopal Church and the spiritual care of his fellow Mainers. As bishop, he guided the diocese with compassion and firmness, emphasizing education, pastoral care, and the importance of faith in everyday life.
He traveled extensively to visit parishes, support clergy, and encourage charitable works, leaving a legacy of strengthened congregations and deepened devotion. When he died in 1899, his burial at Evergreen Cemetery marked the loss of a shepherd whose steady leadership nurtured the spiritual life of the region.
