Military Officer
Biography
Henry H. Bingham earned renown as a Union officer whose courage and leadership were noted on the battlefields of the Civil War before he brought those same steady virtues to the halls of government. He continued to serve the people of Pennsylvania as a member of Congress, advocating for veterans and civic improvements with the same calm resolve he had shown in uniform.
In his later years he remained a trusted figure in civic circles, and upon his passing in 1912 he was laid to rest at Laurel Hill Cemetery, where visitors can reflect on a career of service that bridged war and peace.
