Henry Hoolulu Pitman

Biography

Henry Hoolulu Pitman was born in 1845 and died in 1863 at the age of eighteen, during the height of the American Civil War. His brief life was marked by the turbulent times in which he lived, a period that claimed many young men in the prime of their youth.

Pitman's interment at Mount Auburn Cemetery reflects the dignity accorded to those who died during this pivotal moment in American history. Though his life was short, he remains part of the historical record of a generation forever changed by the events of the 1860s.
