Henry Nichols Blake brought his Baltimore upbringing to the frontier, serving as chief justice of the Montana Supreme Court in the late nineteenth century and helping establish a fair legal foundation for the young state’s mining and cattle industries.

Returning home in later years, he continued to mentor young attorneys, participated in veterans’ causes, and quietly supported historical and educational institutions, embodying the integrity that defined his judicial career.
