Biography

Henry Otto Wittpenn brought energetic reform to Jersey City as mayor, reorganizing departments, championing a clean administration, and expanding parks and schools so that the growing city could serve all its residents.

He later sought broader office while continuing to advise civic leaders, earning respect for his earnest devotion to public service before being laid to rest at Hoboken Cemetery.
