Biography

Hooper C. Van Vorst carried a name rooted in Albany's Dutch past into the latter half of the 19th century, and while detailed records of his professional pursuits have not survived, he shared in the civic rhythms of a city adapting to industry and transportation changes.

He lived long enough to see the Albany Rural Cemetery mature as a place of respect, and his burial there joins him to generations of the capital's residents.
