Horace Vose, born in 1840, earned renown as a poultry farmer whose prized turkeys became a Thanksgiving tradition at the White House for decades.

He took pride in sustainable farming and in sharing the bounty of his harvest with civic institutions, leaving behind a warm legacy when he died in 1913.
