Biography

Howard Sims began tap dancing in the gyms and clubs of the New York metropolitan area before becoming the legendary Sandman, entertaining boxing audiences and Broadway spectators with his rhythmic storytelling.

A devoted teacher, he opened the Howard Sims School of Tap and shared his craft with countless students, earning recognition as a National Heritage Fellow for keeping tap dance vibrant while never losing the joy that first moved him.
