Biography
Irene Clark Woodman broke new ground as a member of the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve, rising to leadership roles that expanded opportunities for women in uniform during and after World War II. Her steady guidance strengthened the Corps’ administrative foundations and demonstrated the vital contributions women could make to national defense.
Woodman later championed mentorship and support for younger women serving in the Corps, leaving a legacy of inclusivity and patriotism that continues to inspire and is honored with her resting place at Arlington National Cemetery.
