Biography
Isaac M. St. John was born in 1827 and trained in the practical arts of engineering, spending his early career shaping the railroads that linked the South to the wider nation and forging a reputation for steady judgment.
During the Civil War he placed those talents at the service of Virginia’s transportation needs and afterward worked to rebuild the region’s infrastructure, before being laid to rest at Hollywood Cemetery.
