Biography

Isaac McLellan (1806-1899) was a poet and writer whose verses, often inspired by the sea, captured the rhythm of New England's shores and the courage of those who made their living upon them. His work appeared in esteemed periodicals and brought lyrical attention to the region's coastal life.

Through friendships with fellow literary figures he nurtured the arts in Boston, and Mount Auburn Cemetery now honors his memory among the city's devoted men of letters.
