Biography

Itzchak Shimkin trained as an electrical engineer in the early twentieth century and brought disciplined expertise to the nascent Jewish communities along the Mediterranean coast. He championed rigorous planning for power distribution, helping to adapt European techniques to the unique conditions of the Yishuv and guiding the engineers who kept hospitals, ports, and new neighborhoods illuminated.

He pursued each assignment with quiet determination and an eye for practical innovation, leaving a legacy of reliable networks and respectful mentorship; he rests at Hof HaCarmel Cemetery.
