Biography

Swedish-born J. Hugo Aronson emigrated to the United States in 1915, made his home in Montana, and built businesses before entering public life, eventually earning the nickname 'the Galloping Swede' during his energetic political campaigns.

He served two terms as Montana’s governor from 1953 to 1961, focusing on fiscal responsibility and the needs of farmers and ranchers, and he was laid to rest at Pleasant View Cemetery.
