Biography

Jacob H. Stewart dedicated decades to St. Paul, guiding the capital city as mayor and stewarding its schools and infrastructure during a period of steady expansion.

In Congress he carried that experience to the national stage, advocating for fair treatment of frontier communities and helping to secure resources for rail and river improvements; his service is memorialized at Oakland Cemetery.
