Jacob Hufty

Biography

Jacob Hufty was born in 1800 and died in 1814 at the age of fourteen, his brief life cut short during the early years of the nineteenth century. He lived during the War of 1812 and the early growth of the young American nation, though he did not live to see the full development of the republic.

His burial in St. John's Episcopal Cemetery reflects the care and respect accorded to the young in his community. Jacob's early death was a loss to his family and community, a poignant reminder of the fragility of life in the early nineteenth century.
