Biography

Jacob Schweighauser Otto (1778–1827) was a member of the Batavia community whose life reflected the industrious spirit of early America, contributing where needed to help the town flourish. Though the particulars of his labor may be lost to time, his personal presence was felt in the lives he touched.

Resting in Batavia Cemetery, Otto is remembered with gratitude for the quiet devotion and neighborly support that enabled Batavia to grow in strength and grace.
