James Biddle
1783–1848 (age 65)
Biography
James Biddle of Christ Church, Philadelphia, spent his life in the United States Navy, commanding squadrons during the War of 1812 and in distant seas while maintaining the discipline and courtesy his city had taught him.
He returned home to mentor younger officers, support the naval yard, and share his time with the parish, leaving a reputation for steadiness that the church and his fellow citizens still remember.
