James Semple

Biography

James Semple was born in 1798 and lived through the early American republic and into the post-Civil War era. His long life of sixty-eight years allowed him to witness the nation's transformation from its early years through the Reconstruction period.

Semple passed away in 1866 and was laid to rest at Bellefontaine Cemetery. His extended life provided a connection to multiple generations and the profound changes that reshaped American society during the nineteenth century.
