Biography
Jan Willem Robert Henri Doorman devoted his life to the defence of the Netherlands, rising through the ranks of the armed forces with a steady hand and a thoughtful sense of duty. His leadership was marked by a calm commitment to his sailors, a deep knowledge of naval tradition, and a concern for the welfare of those who served with him during times of change.
Even after retirement his presence was felt in the quiet encouragement he offered to a new generation of officers, and he remained an honoured figure in The Hague community until his passing. He now rests in The Hague (Westduin) General Cemetery, remembered for the courage and integrity he carried into every task.
