Jane Dunbar Chaplin, born in 1819, carried the grace and resilience of so many women of her generation and enriched the lives of those around her in Newton, even though the specifics of her occupation remain unrecorded.

Her presence was a source of comfort to family and friends, and they still honor her memory in the Newton Cemetery where she was laid to rest in 1884.
